Blossoms, Flowers and Butterflies – Textiles from China and Japan

In the textile patterns of China and Japan plants and flowers play an important role. In the cultures of these countries the change of the season is closely observed. Apart from the seasonal reference, practically all flowers and plants have symbolic meanings.
The lecture offers an insight into this universe and shows the beauty of these textiles by means of the collections of various museums in Europe. A glimpse into a foreign and yet familiar paradise.
